Semiconductor Electronics: Class 12 Physics Chapter 14 Notes in Hindi

Ab tak humne Conductors (Copper) aur Insulators (Wood) ke baare mein padha. Lekin ek teesri category hoti hai—Semiconductors. Inki khasiyat ye hai ki hum inki conductivity ko control kar sakte hain. Silicon aur Germanium iske sabse bade udharan hain.


1. Energy Bands in Solids

Solids mein electrons ke energy levels groups mein hote hain jinhe Bands kehte hain:

  • Valence Band (VB): Isme electrons bhare hote hain.

  • Conduction Band (CB): Isme electrons move karke current flow karwate hain.

  • Energy Gap ($E_g$): VB aur CB ke beech ka khali hissa.

    • Conductors: Gap nahi hota (overlap karte hain).

    • Insulators: Gap bahut bada hota hai ($> 3 eV$).

    • Semiconductors: Gap chota hota hai ($< 3 eV$).


2. Types of Semiconductors

  1. Intrinsic (Shuddh): Yeh pure form mein hote hain (e.g., Pure Silicon). Inki conductivity kam hoti hai.

  2. Extrinsic (Ashuddh): Jab pure semiconductor mein thodi "Impurity" milayi jati hai (is process ko Doping kehte hain), toh ye do tarah ke bante hain:

    • n-type: Jab Pentavalent impurity (Phosphorus) milate hain. Isme Electrons zyada hote hain.

    • p-type: Jab Trivalent impurity (Aluminium) milate hain. Isme Holes zyada hote hain.


3. p-n Junction Diode

Jab ek p-type aur n-type semiconductor ko joda jata hai, toh junction par ek Depletion Layer ban jati hai.

  • Forward Bias: Jab p-side ko (+) aur n-side ko (-) se jodte hain. Current flow karta hai.

  • Reverse Bias: Jab p-side ko (-) aur n-side ko (+) se jodte hain. Current flow nahi karta.

4. Diode as a Rectifier

Rectifier wo device hai jo AC current ko DC current mein badalti hai.

  • Half Wave Rectifier: Yeh sirf aadhi AC cycle ko DC mein badalta hai.

  • Full Wave Rectifier: Yeh puri AC cycle ko DC mein badal deta hai (Isme do diodes lagte hain).


5. Special Purpose Diodes

  • Zener Diode: Yeh reverse bias mein kaam karta hai aur Voltage Regulator ki tarah use hota hai.

  • LED (Light Emitting Diode): Jab isme current flow hota hai, toh ye light nikalta hai.

  • Solar Cell: Yeh light energy ko electrical energy mein badalta hai.


6. Logic Gates (Digital Electronics)

Digital circuits "0" aur "1" par kaam karte hain. Inke main gates hain:

  1. OR Gate: Agar koi bhi ek input 1 hai, toh output 1 hoga ($Y = A + B$).

  2. AND Gate: Jab dono input 1 honge, tabhi output 1 hoga ($Y = A \cdot B$).

  3. NOT Gate: Yeh input ko ulta kar deta hai.

  4. NAND/NOR Gates: Inhe Universal Gates kehte hain kyunki inase koi bhi gate banaya ja sakta hai.

Short Questions (1-2 Marks):

  1. Doping kya hai? Semiconductor ki conductivity badhane ke liye impurity milane ka process.
